All submissions are reviewed through a double-blind peer-review process with subject experts.

GENERATIVE

The upcoming issue of TECHNOLOGY | ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN (TAD) seeks submissions that critically investigate the potential of generative systems in the allied design fields. Recent advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) have demonstrated the ability to create novel works (e.g., texts, images, and sounds) indistinguishable from those of human authors in fractions of a second. The ramifications of these emerging technologies for the allied design fields are profound and present a unique opportunity for the critical appraisal of how the design disciplines might move forward in the face of technological change that strikes at the heart of what it means to be a creative agent. How might generative systems augment and empower human agency, intelligence, and imagination in design? How can they be used to meet the challenges posed by resource scarcity, pollution, and climate change through sustainable design? How can they be applied in transformative ways to improve design education? What processes and policies can be developed to ensure their humane and ethical use? TAD invites manuscripts that critically examine the potential and impacts of generative systems and technologies in design education, research, and practice.

Visit TAD Call for Papers for more information about the topic’s scope.

TAD invites original and innovative research from scholars, practitioners, researchers, and students. Contributions to the issue focus area are encouraged, but TAD will consider all papers that meet the TAD mission statement. The journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis, but for consideration in this issue, manuscripts are due before 11:59 pm Eastern Time on June 15, 2024. All manuscripts are double-blind peer-reviewed. Manuscripts must follow the standards detailed in the TAD Author Guide.
