ARLIS/NA 52nd Annual Conference: POP!
Pittsburgh, PA / April 2-5, 2024
Abstract Submission Deadline: December 31, 2023
The ARLIS/NA Digital Humanities SIG invites those interested to submit papers for the panel, In Support of Digital Humanities, at the upcoming Annual Conference in Pittsburgh.
It is becoming increasingly common for librarians and visual resources specialists to be called upon to support digital humanities-related scholarship, publications, software, projects, courses, and exhibitions in all its varied forms. Library and visual resources personnel are often embedded in projects or courses for the duration and become digital content producers. These support services can take a variety of forms:
- LibGuides and Bibliographies
- Digitization – processes and tools for digitizing documents and images
- Text Analysis – text encoding; tools and approaches for analyzing corpora
- Digital Publishing – platforms and hosting options; outreach and assessment
- Digital Project Design and Management –-scoping and planning, identifying resources, selecting tools
- Data Visualization – using charts, graphs, and maps to visually represent data
- Artificial Intelligence – learning, problem-solving, knowledge representation, and perception.
This session seeks to explore a variety of digital humanities support options with case studies detailing best practices associated with digital methodologies. It is our intent to also address issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility that are possible in a virtual world where native digital content is being created.
Please submit potential presentation titles and short abstracts by December 31 to Marty Miller, martymiller@lsu.edu, or John Taormina, taormina@duke.edu.
