New Art-Historical Web Resource: The Albrecht Haupt Collection

The digital Albrecht Haupt Collection is now accessible online. Under TIB SAH digital, the partial holdings of individual hand drawings and prints from the special collections of the Technische Informationsbibliothek Hannover (TIB) have been made available with open access and text in German or English. Approximately 6,200 works on paper from four centuries on various topics such as architecture, garden history, ornament, arts and crafts, figurative art and much more, which were collected over many years by the architect, building historian and university lecturer Albrecht Haupt (1852-1932), can be searched here. More than 15,000 high-resolution digital copies make it possible for the first time to comprehensively view the collection with more than 1,000 unique hand drawings. The collection was processed as part of the GESAH project (Digitisation and Specialist Indexing of the Individual Graphic Sheets of the Collection of the Architect Albrecht Haupt; ), which was funded for three years by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as a collaborative project between TIB and the Chair for the History of Building and Urban Planning of the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture at the Leibniz Universität Hannover (2019-2022).
